Zaragoza citizens, preferably women, from different cultural traditions and from the surrounding areas of the Magdalena neighbourhood.

Execution period:

2018 – present

Summary:

The ENTREMUJERES space aims to be a simple response to the need to promote dialogue and exchange between people from different cultural traditions who find it difficult to socialise in other areas. A peaceful space with free and open access to which the women of the neighbourhood, of the city, can go in their leisure time to meet other people, other women, to share their interests and concerns, to understand their differences and to create links. They can share a coffee, a cup of tea, a piece of cake, organise workshops, talks or events on issues of interest to women, or simply disconnect from their daily obligations. The users will take ownership of the project and the Space by participating in the programming of the activities.

The Isabel Martín Foundation will provide means and tools and will dynamize the Space, proposing topics for dialogue and collaborative learning, from parenting to gardening, from religion to politics, customs or sexuality. The Project provides users with a multipurpose room located in the new premises of our NGO, in Calle Mayor 6-local (entrance from Calle Refugio), and will facilitate access to the garden of the Huerta de San Nicolás, in the Monastery of the Canonesas del Santo Sepulcro, just a few metres from the Space.

As a NGOD we develop our activity in a multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-confessional environment. The people who work in the cooperation projects, employees, volunteers and collaborators, in Spain and in the field, come from different countries, ethnicities and religions, we come from different cultural traditions and we believe in the personal and social enrichment that intercultural dialogue entails and how mutual knowledge can contribute to harmony and peace. We value what unites us and we value what differentiates us. In our processes of reflection and debate with other entities and people, this need to promote exchange has arisen repeatedly. Specifically, with the Community of the Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre of Saragossa, pioneers in interreligious dialogue and intercultural welcome, we began to forge a project to open a permanent physical space to promote encounter.

In our vocation to work for the empowerment of women, we have identified that the possibility of interacting with others from different traditions is more difficult for those who have less economic means and who have difficulties in socialising, precisely because of their diversity, and the project is preferably aimed at them.
